In 2018, Kim Jones invited renowned Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama to collaborate on the Dior Pre-Fall 2019 Menswear collection, which debuted in Japan. The show's highlight and centerpiece was a towering 39-and-a-half foot silver fembot statue, the epitome of Sorayama's signature futuristic aesthetic. Jones' inclusion of Sorayama paid homage to Christian Dior's connection to the art world prior to becoming a couturier, and the overall show nodded to Dior's love for Japanese culture. This original artwork was personally gifted to Jones by Sorayama following the Japan show, making it a truly unique and special piece.
Embossed '© SORAYAMA' (lower right); stamped with signature and date, and signed again 'SORAYAMA '18.8.09' Sorayama' (on the reverse).
