Natural Leather Notebook Case

Goro Takahashi was a self-taught artist whose brand has become synonymous with Harajuku culture. Takahashi first learned leather carving in high school, where he was taught the Native American techniques and traditions by an American soldier stationed in Japan. In 1956, he began selling his handcrafted jewelry and, by 1972, he had established his renowned store. Takahashi's jewelry quickly became highly coveted and collectible, given the limited quantity that he was able to produce by hand and the relationship clients needed with him to procure directly from the brand. Because of these factors, Goro's jewelry has established a secondary market which rivals the primary. A huge collector of Goro's, NIGO's collection is comprised almost entirely of jewelry that was handmade by Takahashi himself and purchased mostly in the late 1980s. His collection, replete with the iconic pieces tied to the brand's incredible origin story, is one to be envied by the global collectors who continue to take pilgrimages to Japan to procure one of these rare pieces.
