In the 1980s and 1990s, NIGO fell in love with skating and he felt particularly connected to the skate culture that was flourishing out of New York and the East Coast at the time. During that time, he collected and used a selection of skateboards including this board by Vallely. This skateboard is an exemplary deck from the 1980s/90s skate scene which marked a shift towards more aggressive and technical street skating. A symbol of Mike Vallely's influence, the board highlights his revolutionary approach to skateboarding that utilized powerful street tricks as well as his own personal style and distinctive designs. Vallely's skateboarding and his innovative board designs were integral in popularizing the street skating movement that was deeply significant to the time.
